Position Overview 

At Thrive, the Principal Architect plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing cloud strategies for our Enterprise clients. As the technical lead, the Principal Architect ensures the successful execution of projects in alignment with Thrive’s Project Plans, Orders, and Scopes of Service. The Principal Architect is responsible for leading the technical vision, as well as implementing, maintaining, and optimizing solutions within the Azure platform. This role is engaged post-sale to ensure the successful execution of Azure-centric projects, deliver strategic implementation plans to C-level stakeholders, and execute hands-on engineering tasks. In addition, the Principal Architect serves as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on Azure architecture and cloud strategies, ensuring technology solutions align with each client’s business objectives. 

Responsibilities 

  •  Architect, deploy, and manage scalable, highly available, and secure solutions on Microsoft Azure. 

  • Implement and maintain core Azure infrastructure components, including virtual networks, virtual machines, storage accounts, and Microsoft Entra ID.  

  • Ability to assess and implement Azure solutions across diverse computing environments for Thrive enterprise clients. 

  • Analyze an unfamiliar client environment to determine the most secure, efficient and successful path to complete documented project goals. 

  • Contribute to future-state architecture planning with a focus on scalability, security, operability, and cost optimization. 

  • Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues within Azure environments. 

  • Work through the project process to reach a successful outcome by: 

  • Partnering with operations, development, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of Azure solutions. 

  • Successfully translating customer business needs into technical realities 

  • Performing hands-on engineering as necessary 

  • Pivot technical approach to meet shifting priorities set by Thrive enterprise clients 

  • Clearly and professionally communicate project plans, potential impacts and testing procedures to Thrive enterprise clients at both a technical and an executive level. 

  • Track and manage time effectively to accomplish multiple ongoing projects. 

Qualifications 

Minimum 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Technical Degree or equivalent work experience 

  • Minimum of AZ-104: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate certification is required.  

  • 6-8+ years of Administrative and/or Project experience with Windows Server and related technologies 

  • 3+ years of professional experience implementing and managing solutions on Microsoft Azure.  

  • Strong understanding of core Azure services such as IaaS (VMs, storage, networking), PaaS (App Services, Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions), and identity management (Entra ID).  

  • Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Azure CLI.  

  • Experience working with highly complex technical projects involving multiple workstreams 

  • Self-motivated with ability to work both independently and in a team environment 

  • Excellent communication1 and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.  

Preferred 

  • Experience using ServiceNow (or other project management software)
