The Datacentre Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a 1MW datacentre facility, overseeing all aspects of infrastructure, maintenance, security, and compliance. This role ensures the facility’s critical systems; including generators, UPS, air conditioning, and fire safety are maintained to the highest standards, supporting uninterrupted service for customers and stakeholders.

Position Overview
The Datacentre Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a 1MW datacentre facility, overseeing all aspects of infrastructure, maintenance, security, and compliance. This role ensures the facility’s critical systems; including generators, UPS, air conditioning, and fire safety are maintained to the highest standards, supporting uninterrupted service for customers and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Facilities Management
- Oversee regular and emergency maintenance of Data Hall air conditioning systems
- Manage diesel generator maintenance, including monthly on/off load testing
- Supervise main UPS maintenance
- Conduct plant room (switch gear) checks and maintenance
- Perform gas bottle checks and maintenance
- Ensure CCTV systems (ADT) are regularly checked and maintained
- Act as carrier point of contact for new circuits entering the datacentre
- Manage installation and running of cross-connects from Meet-Me room to customer cabinets
- Maintain tidiness and organisation in the Meet-Me rooms and Data Halls
- Oversee Data Hall rack installations
- Review branch circuit monitoring reports daily and address issues relating to billing
- Respond to datacentre alerts in Data Halls 24x7
- Liaise with site security
- Ensure regular servicing and maintenance of the security system
- Help to manage the administration of other Thrive datacenters globally
Fire Safety
- Manage and maintain the fire suppression system
- Conduct fire risk assessments and ensure completion of any required actions
Health & Safety
- Oversee repairs to building infrastructure (roof, windows, carpets, seating, desks, etc.)
- Ensure the site is clean and free from hazardous obstacles
- Conduct risk assessments for work carried out in the office
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- Proven experience managing Data Centre facilities or similar critical infrastructure
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems (generators, UPS, HVAC)
- Experience with fire safety and suppression systems
- Familiarity with security systems and protocols
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to respond to emergencies and work on-call as required
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations and risk assessment procedures
- Certifications in Data Centre management, electrical systems, or health & safety (desirable).
